London
We got to know London in the summer of 2009 during the Wimbledon tennis tournament. The lively British metropolis has left us with great impressions.
London is a lively city of 8 million people, whose character has remained typically British despite multicultural influences. The centre offers everything in a small area: the past and present with Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall with the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, and the relaxing St. James, Green and Hyde Parks.
We were impressed by the art collections in the National Gallery and the Tate Modern Gallery as well as the exhibitions in the Natural History Museum. The walk alongside the Thames with a side trip to the London Eye, the biggest Ferris wheel of the world, as also to the Anchor Pub, a 500 years old pub with a beer garden, remains in good memory.
By the way, we were accommodated in the Millenium-Hotel that belongs to the stadium complex of the FC Chelsea. Conclusion: We will be back!
