Doing sports permanently

Often the good intention to do more sports in the future is "thrown over" after a short time. Initially, there is the firm decision to counter the reduced physical condition with more exercise.

Sport dauerhaft treibenHowever, after just a few exercise units and a little more well-being, the power of endurance for regular sport dwindles increasingly. Common reasons such as "I'm too busy at work" or "The weather is really bad at the moment" are quickly used. To ensure that your fitness does not fall victim to such pseudo-arguments, you should follow these tips for sustained, sporting activity:

Exercise in a group

Make an appointment with your partner, your like-minded neighbour or your work colleague to do sports together. Arrange fixed days and times. Binding appointments are much easier to follow.

Sport as a ritual

Schedule your sports appointments in your calendar or smartphone, e.g. "Jogging Monday, Wednesday, Friday 17.30 to 18.00 h", "Tennis Tuesday and Sunday 19.00 to 21.00 h". After some time, sporty rituals arise from this, which you soon no longer question.

Initially with a coach

A wrong technique, e.g. when running or playing tennis, is the most common mistake made by the sports beginner. It is difficult to stop it later. We therefore recommend that an experienced trainer be consulted at the beginning of a training phase to teach the correct sequence of movements.

Do not overstrain at the beginning

Especially for the sporty re-starters the ambition is often greater than the ability to perform. The training should be started without excessive demands and the intensity should be increased step by step. It is important that the aerobic zone is permanently loaded. You should still be able to talk to your partner while jogging.

Good and well-kept equipment

For jogging, we recommend choosing quality shoes based on a video analysis of your running style on the treadmill. As sportswear, functional underwear made of microfibres is advantageous because it transports moisture from the skin to the outside and is also easy to care for. Sports underwear and sports equipment must be cared well.

Visualize sport

The sports equipment should not be stored in a place that is difficult to access, but rather directly visible to everyone in the apartment. In our house, the tennis rackets and running shoes are located right next to the hall closet and are therefore often noticed by us during the day.

The fun factor in sport

Bitter and drooping corners of the mouth are rather detrimental for a permanent fitness. In the long run, joy and a certain amount of looseness are much more decisive for your athletic future, as well as calmness and recognition when your opponent has inflicted a sporting defeat on you.
